Additional Information

Why multiple versions?

WebCALIS is written in Java, a programming language that allows the programs written in it to be run on almost any platform. The only thing a computer needs to run a Java program is an interpreter called a Java Virtual Machine (or Java VM for short). These Virtual Machines are built into the latest World Wide Web Browsers, and are also available as standalone programs. Because the Java standard is new and still developing, not all Java VM's are created equal. Each has its own quirks, benefits and problems. Consequently, your experience with WebCALIS may depend on the browser you use to execute the program. So to ensure that you have the best experience you can with WebCALIS, we have different versions, tailored to the two most common browsers.
